One of our engineering teams is running an Elf and Safety daily challenge initiative for the 12 days of Christmas. Pertinent Health and Safety questions will be displayed in the engineering workshop in the morning and the answers displayed in the afternoon, as a visual reminder of key Health and Safety themes.
This initiative has been devised and implemented by Stephanie Lack (PEME Site Administrator) and follows an earlier initiative where she has taken a personal role in helping new starters during their first days on the site by introducing a site specific induction and showing them where to find the information they need and acting as a point of contact. Stephanie also voluntarily maintains Health and Safety information on the visual management information boards in the workshop.
PEME Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, Michael Edwards reported “This is an excellent self-generated initiative. It highlights that there are individuals who are trying to add a little bit of variety and humour to the Health and Safety message. The PEME Management Team on this site have instigated a number of recent initiatives including face-fit testing for respirators, workshop audits, clear bench policies and CDM 2015 paperwork, all of which provide excellent examples of continuous improvement.”
Stephanie is shown being congratulated by Michael for her great effort.
Darren Martin, PEME Engineering Director said “Stephanie’s initiative highlights what individuals and teams can do for themselves to publicise and highlight safety-related positives, while underlining our commitment to Health and Safety from the business as a whole and not just the safety team. Well done Stephanie.”
