PEME Reliability Engineer, Laurie-ann Smith, has taken part in a North Norfolk sponsored coastal walk in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action, having pledged to raise money for the charity at an awards ceremony. To help reach her target, PEME have sponsored her effort.
Laurie-ann has set herself the challenge of raising £1,250 for Ovarian Cancer Action. As well as the sponsored walk she is also raising money through a prize raffle.
The money Laurie-ann raises will go towards developing new and targeted treatments. The Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre drives new and more targeted treatments from pre-clinical studies, to clinical trials and into gynaecological clinics across the UK. The charity only funds research that can be translated into meaningful outcomes for real women in real life and they also work extremely hard across the UK to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, hoping to spread the word so less women die of this disease.
