In support of this year’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day, PEME held a Bake-off, with contestants across the company making Stem Ginger Shortbread. Entries were judged by the PEME design team and money raised from the sale of the shortbread was donated to charity.
This year’s comic relief bake-off event was won by Health and Safety Co-ordinator, Pat McAuley who said “I am delighted to win this year’s award and will now buy all my biscuits from Aldi”.
Pat was unable to collect his award in person as he was visiting a client site somewhere and so the award was collected on his behalf by PEME stalwart Alex Sewell who said “I am entitled to collect this award on behalf of Pat as I have eaten most of the biscuits”.
Alex is shown collecting Pat’s award from PEME Bake-off Head Judge, James (Jimmy) Henson, who said “Pat’s shortbreads were delicious and melted in the mouth. The texture was firm, not too much ginger and just a pinch of salt meant he was a clear winner”.
Hazel Bimson (Head of PEME Bake-off Public Relations) said “This year’s event was a great success and although there was one well-dodgy entry, the overall standard was high with an insignificant amount of money being raised”.
