Four PEME engineers play football for Ketton F.C. in the Peterborough and district league division 1. Founded in 1988, Ketton FC has become one of the leading football clubs in Rutland attracting players and members from the village and surrounding area.
The PEME engineers are Ian Marsh (Centre Midfield), Lee Dale (Central Defence), Calvin Whittle (Centre Midfield) and Matthew Lawrence (Left back).
The club has a flourishing Junior set-up with children of all ages enjoying regular organised football. This emphasis on the development of young people’s talent struck an accord with PEME’s Engineering Director, Darren Martin, as it matches PEME’s principles of introducing new talent into the business via the Apprenticeship scheme and then developing that talent through our Leadership Development program.
Darren also has a history with the village and club, having also played for both the football and cricket teams. When approached at the start of the season by Ian Marsh, he was more than willing to arrange sponsorship from the company. The team are currently 6th in their league and have also reached the semi-finals of the Challenge League cup. The picture shows the team in the strip provided by PEME’s sponsorship.
