PEME engineers have taken part in a 3-a-side ‘street basketball’ competition organised by Tate & Lyle at the University of East London. Tate & Lyle are one of our maintenance partnership clients.
The matches take place on half of a normal basketball court; three people are on the court on each side, and regular substitutions are made during each eight minute game. Two points are scored for baskets outside the conventional three point line and one point is scored for each basket inside this area.
PEME’s team consisted of:
- Jay Baldwin (Team Captain)
- Gary Laken
- Peter Goodwin
- Aaron Parker
- Lewis Cosgrove
- Liam Gallagher
The PEME team made it through to the semi-finals before being knocked out by the team who eventually went on to win the competition. They did, however, win the special award for ‘team with the most pace’ which earned them each a £250 voucher for membership of the University gym. As can been seen from the photograph, they missed out on the ‘best looking team’ award.
We were the only contract company to take part and were competing amongst seven teams from Tate & Lyle. The winning team won a place to compete in the Corporate games in Preston in July 2012.
