Long serving PEME technician, Phil Kyte, recently received a safety award from PEME Site Manager Alan Finnie, for spotting and dealing with an isolation issue that could have had serious consequences if left un-resolved.
The picture shows Phil accepting his award from Alan, who said “Phil has set a great example to the younger team members on our site with his diligence in auditing work in progress and highlighting the learnings that can be taken from non-conformances”.
Phil is employed at an international food manufacturer’s site and his role involves responsibility for the maintenance of sterilisers and packing equipment and reporting on mechanical issues that can seriously impact the clients output. Phil won this safety award because he had highlighted an electrical lock-out issue and suggested a solution that eliminated the problem. He also provides liaison between the PEME team and the client’s Health and Safety Committee.
The safety awards are part of an on-going PEME initiative to highlight workplace hazards and improve safety for our staff and the personnel we work with. The awards are open to all employees and are administered by our Safety Department in consultation with PEME Site and Department Managers.
