PEME is fully committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees and our clients. To achieve this PEME is an OHSA 18001 certified company with a very robust Health & Safety Management System which includes regular safety auditing across the company.
Individual monthly targets for conducting Safety audits are allocated to all PEME Directors, Managers and Team Leaders and all PEME Projects / Sites must complete a minimum number of audits each month in addition to those conducted by the PEME Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. Any non-conformances identified during the audits are clearly documented, along with the required action and timescales for completion. All findings are discussed with the PEME Project / Site Manager and reviewed with the PEME Managing Director.
It was during one of his personal monthly audits, that PEME Managing Director, Ashley Maile, was very impressed by the approach to auditing being taken by Michal Polak, one of the PEME Team Leaders. Michal was not only conducting the audits correctly in a very thorough and conscientious way with remarks (good as well as deficient) in every section audited, he had also used a critical but fair approach to ensure continuous improvement.
In recognition, of Michal’s efforts to improve safety and standards of work through positive critical auditing, he is shown receiving a PEME Safety Award from Pat McAuley (PEME Safety Co-ordinator). Pat said “I’ve been banging-on about the need for searching audits rather than box-ticking during our regular Safety Tool-Box Talks for months. I was very pleased to be asked to make this award to Michal because it recognises the safety behaviours we are encouraging across PEME”.
