PEME is supporting Emma Osgood who is doing the Great Eastern half-marathon on 08 October to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and Emma is hopeful more people will sponsor her effort and help raise money for this great cause.
Emma first started running 2 years ago by using the NHS App Couch Potato to 5K and progressed to going down to a local running track in the summer of 2016 to take part in an initiative that Vivacity was putting on for 6 sessions a year. Here she met some fantastic people who supported her.
Emma says “I wasn’t the fastest but tried hard (in those days my breathing could vouch for that)” and from there she joined Werrington Joggers as a member. Emma completed her first sub-9 minute mile this year, 33.05 is her Personnel Best for a Park run and is looking to complete the Great Eastern Run within 2 hrs 45 mins.
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition, through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, to reduce the impact of prostate cancer.
Emma is tackling the half-marathon because she “wants to feel that sense of achievement when she completes it within her target time” and is raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK because her partner underwent Radio Therapy 4 years ago and recently they have found out the cancer has returned.
Emma goes on to say “it would mean so much to us both if I can help make a difference for future families not to have to experience what we are going through”.
If you can help Emma reach her fundraising target her Just Giving Page is available here – www.justgiving.com/emma-osgood.
